What is Herbal Medicine?
Herbal Medicine is one of the great herbal systems of the world. The literate tradition of case histories extends back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD). Therapeutic categories include digestives, materials that improve circulation, nervous system calming agents, antimicrobials and more.

Take pharmaceutical drugs—can I still take Chinese herbs?
It is very important to let your practitioner know about any pharmaceuticals that you are currently taking. In most cases, taking Chinese herbs is not contraindicated for people who are also taking pharmaceutical drugs. There are some exceptions to this, however, so it is very important to only take herbs that have been prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
Central to TCM is the concept of "medicinal food homology," which posits that herbal medicine and food share a common origin. According to this theory, certain foods not only provide nutritional value but also possess therapeutic properties, contributing to the maintenance of overall health. Therefore, the preparation and application of traditional Chinese medicine integrate both TCM principles and the concept of medicinal food homology, emphasizing the use of natural ingredients for the purpose of nourishment and treatment.
Every patient is different. Therefore, in TCM, the treatment approach to every patient varies. Not just in terms of their illnesses, but also because of different body constitutions, we prescribe different herbal combination and no 2 formulas are exactly the same.we go by herbal medications and dietary changes for our patient.
Food therapy is as important as herbal therapy. And like herbs, many commonly used ingredients in our kitchen can help aid our symptoms. Using a combination of 1 or more ingredients, our physicians will advise patients to change some dietary habits so as to improve their body constitution, treating the root cause of their condition. For example, patients with frequent urinary tract infection (UTI) can brew tea with corn silk as it is diuretic and has heat clearing properties.
